Hey there! Love your Vogelkop creation. My friend, who studies birds, is getting married and all her friends are going to dress up as birds to celebrate. Your costume is amazing. I was curious if you’d be willing to share how you made the wings, or let me know what type of material you used. These obviously are nothing like traditional bird wings we see designed, and it’s awesome how you made them fold down with your arms.
Cheers,
Stephanie
Hi! Thank you and sorry for the late response. The design for the wings is fairly simple, actually. I made a blueprint, projected it on to a large piece of paper to match my body size, then cut the wings out. Essentially, inside it is made up of segmented foamboard, which was then covered with a super dark fuzzy fabric for lack of a feathered option. So basically, a segment to match every movable part of my arm to make it flexible, and then handles so I could keep a grip on the wings. The entire wing set was strapped on to my body through a bra that also displayed the blue dots seen on a bird of paradise. 🙂 Hope that helps!
Good morning/afternoon,
I write because I would like ask for permission to make 3D graphic render interpretation based on your artwork “Metroid Physiology”. I just recently (almost) finished model based on original super metroid instruction book illustration (link belove), but Your interpretation make it even more outstanding (I love your attention to details, especially that depth of field ). If you agree, please let me know what kind of information I should place – no idea how long it gonna take me to make 3D sculpt it, and then render but 3D render will be published on my artstation profile.
Hi! That sounds wonderful. I appreciate that and yeah, just name drop me in there somewhere, that’d be kind (Jaime Margary – Margary.net). Send me pics when you finish – I’d love to see it.
